Imagine being unable to see the woman who gave birth to you, the man who walked you to school every morning and shaped you as an adult, the food you enjoy eating, the rain that soothes your skin, and everything else the world has to offer.
That is tough for us to comprehend. However, there are people in the world who live in this manner.
I recently had an opportunity to help a 24-year-old extremely ambitious man with a smile so contagious that everyone around him could feel instant happiness. In spite of all the happiness, he spread his sight could never relish it.
Yes, he is blind. But his dreams aren’t any different from any other man's. He wants a job, wants to earn well and has a settled family. And so he decided to sit for a bank examination. But alas! His sight couldn’t help him write it. And so he needed someone to help him do that. I was fortunate enough to be able to assist him in writing his exam.
It's been a wonderful pleasure to assist him in realizing his ambition, even if just a little.
Community service isn’t just a help for you to increase your credits when you’re in college but an experience that you definitely should have once in your lifetime.
“You should care for the needy”, is something that we have been hearing from our parents since we were kids.
But we have no idea how much of a difference it may make in someone's life.
Someone who is physically disabled and cannot meet their basic requirements, someone who is raised in an orphanage without the affection of their mother or father, or someone who spends their senior years alone in an old age facility are all things we would never wish for anyone.
However, some people do live these lives.
Bringing a smile on their face by doing something to make them feel special is a priceless experience and gift for us and them.
And so I promise squeezing out a little time to bring a smile on those faces will definitely bring a smile on your face too!
