Rakshita Mundalik (International Studies)

Hello! I am Rakshita Mundalik, pursuing the degree of Liberal Arts and currently studying the module Business Erasmus in Teesside University , UK as I am one of the Semester Exchange Program student.

Well speaking in terms of academic curriculum in Teesside university, I have been introduced to several new ways of learning which has undoubtedly helped me understand the depth of respective subjects. The faculty is very considerate especially when it comes to exchange students, the teaching pattern is quite different in comparison to what I have experienced. Each subject consists of one lecture and one seminar every week, mostly after every topic, this pattern assisted me to comprehend the activities given to me. Other students in the university are friendly and I got to learn several things from each one of them, mainly about a different culture , a complete different lifestyle with different ideas, customs, values and attitudes.

The experience in the United Kingdom has been fascinating. Since childhood, I always looked forward studying abroad and semester exchange program gave me the chance to live my dream for which I will always be grateful.

Initially when I moved in, it was difficult to adjust but eventually things started to fall in place. I explored new places, new cuisines, visited some cities nearby on weekends, Made vlogs and made friends.

In conclusion, I am extremely thankful for the opportunity given to me and I hope I am giving justice to the faith that the faculty of ADYPU has in me.

Khushi Marwa (Psychology 2nd yr)

While encouraging me to partake in this program, my mother said to me that this is a moment in my life that can influence me for a lifetime and looking back two months from then, I realize how true that is.

This program has provided me with the opportunity to experience various chapters in my life that helped me change the way I view people, situations and experiences.

For the first month, I experienced, what we famously call, “the honeymoon stage”, wherein everything felt new and exciting as the struggles were yet to come my way.

As they say, Not every phase in life lasts forever. Soon enough, the honeymoon stage had ended and I began missing life back at home. Right from the comfort of being around my set group of best friends, to being greeted and offered help by the familiar faces of my teachers, when in need. The biggest challenge for me was learning to be strictly independent and gather the courage and confidence to approach people and strike a conversation. I realized how different their culture was as compared to mine, right from the way they speak to the way they behave.

Overall, this opportunity has changed me drastically. From being a reserved person to stepping out of my comfort zone, I learnt to pave my way through.
